I Killz U in Ur Sleep
Yep. That's right. Cat wearing a sweater. Boy, was she pissed.
Here's the thing: She's 17 years old. Geriatric Kitty. Is on several medications and seems to be cold a lot lately. So I thought, maybe she needs a sweater.
There's a reason cats typically don't wear sweaters. They can't groom themselves very easily if they're half-shrouded in wool or acrylic. But Kitty hasn't been in the habit of grooming herself in her old age -- every few days I have to brush out her fur myself to keep it from getting all matted. So figuring that obstruction to grooming wasn't an issue, I found this "dog" sweater at Tuesday Morning for $5.
But I guess there's another reason cats don't wear sweaters. Dignity. She's figured out how to wriggle out of it fairly quickly. Or maybe it's the storebought acrylic sweater itself -- maybe she's a fiber snob and she's waiting for me to knit her something out of Alpaca Silk.
Speaking of knitting, I've made some progress on that, too. Here's Baby Helen's Christmas stocking, which I finished in 8 days (once I got started, I had a hard time stopping!)
I'm now working on her cousin Matthew's stocking, which is the same (except the name at the top, obviously). Started at the top and have already worked my way to the top of Santa's head. Kitty sits next to me as I knit -- I think she prefers to keep warm by snuggling with a nice warm human.

I think Kitty truly loves her new sweater, but just doesn't want to admit it. It's lovely on her. The color is just so her!
I'm so impressed with your Christmas stocking! I can't believe you got it done so quickly. Baby Helen is a lucky duck, and Matthew is waddling right behind her!
So sad that I'm missing 3 quality Thursday nights with you. We're going to have some serious wisecracking to catch up on!
Nice dog sweater! and $5? what a great buy! Looks good on Kitty too!
The Christmas stocking really is very very cute. I am so proud of you with all the color works and duplicate stitches(is it how you call the stitches of you putting Helen letter's on?) Although it's only third based sock, you did a great job!(hopefully I use the term right)
wow! Look at that stocking! That is awesome work!
I don't think my dogs will like any sweaters I make them, alpaca silk or not... Although that was a good find for $5!!!
Oh man. that is one pissed cat. The stocking looks great! You are definately going to win the best Aunty prize.
LMAO!!!! How the hell you didn't get clawed while putting on that sweater is a mystery to me! The stockings are looking good there, girlfriend. We are going to get you addicted to sock knitting like the rest of us.
BTW - Thank you for the comment on my blog. You have a way with saying just the right thing! It almost made me cry at work! I'm glad I go out of the car that night too!
Hey, I'm with JennM, I cannot *believe* you got that on her without getting wounded! I'd never even attempt it with my old lady cat, LOL! She does look adorable, if miffed, in it!
Great, great work on your stocking. It is truly beautiful! I can't wait to see Matthew's!
